Product Presentation: A Whole New Dimension
Whether in Chicago, Vienna, or Dubai—Siemens Healthineers and we make a well-coordinated team when it comes to successful trade show appearances. For many years, as part of the Lachs von Achtern agency family, we have been combining eye-catching exhibits with the latest digital capabilities. Our goal: to make complex content and workflows understandable through a unique product experience—for example, by expanding reality through AR.
For the digital product presentation of Siemens’ latest generation of CT scanners, Somatom, we created a spectacular augmented reality application. We handled the technical, design, and content concepts, created the 2D and 3D visualizations of the scanner, and managed the technical implementation of the application—which, since its trade show debut, has also been supporting the Siemens Healthineers sales team as an iOS app.

Experience the enhanced product experience via AR
The Siemens Healthineers portfolio is, by its very nature, larger than any exhibition space. Since the latest generation of the Somatom CT scanner would have been too large to fit within the exhibition space as a physical exhibit, we took it into a new dimension—combining an analog with a digital product presentation: We placed a stele of the gantry—the scanner’s ring—on the booth and expanded it using augmented reality. To achieve this, we developed an application using the latest ARKit for iOS and installed it on iPads for the trade show audience—as well as for subsequent use in Siemens Healthineers’ sales department.

The AR app: A presentation with interactive features
The complex clinical workflow of the CT scanner—brought to life in a digital product presentation that any trade show visitor can understand in just a minute and a half. To achieve this, we transformed a 2D visualization into a spectacular 3D experience. Using an iPad, booth visitors could now interactively control the scanning process and move the table in and out. Product information displayed in parallel provided easy-to-understand context. And thanks to tracking within our application, it was easy to analyze after the trade show which content had generated the most interest.

The App: In Use by Sales
Just back from RSNA—and already on its next assignment: Because our AR application wowed the medical community at RSNA, it’s now proving its capabilities beyond the conference as a presentation tool—based on an iOS app—for the Siemens Healthineers sales team. Since then, our app has added a new dimension to every customer meeting, supporting the successful sales of the Somatom scanner.
